Ellis had defeated McCarthy in their match earlier in the season. Ellis has had wins over the number one men from both University of Georgia and Wake Forest. Jeff Kefalos playing in the number two spot, overtook Bunner Smith in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. Andreas Huffschmid downed Drew Fiumano 7-5, 6-0, and Doc Malloy took Bill Charles 6-4, 6-3. Mark Rosenblum and Tom Collins both took their opponents in two sets, 6-2, 6-2, and 6-3, 7-5. In doubles, the number one match was the only one that was completed with Tom Craig and McCarthy tak ing Ellis and Smith 6-3, 6-3. The other two matches were rained out in the third set. And in the number three and four positions Kefalos and Hufschmid both posted a 26-2 sea son. Doc Malloy playing number five had a record of 23-3. And in the number six position five players alternated, with Rosen blum having a 13-0 record, Craig having a 10-4 mark, Collins stood at 8-0, Paul Adler was 5-0, and Steve Geller was 2-1. In doubles, the number one team of McCarthy and Desatnik were 7-7 for the season. The team of Kefalos and Hufschmid stood at 24-4 in the number two spot. And in the number three position, three teams alternated, with Rosenblum and Craig having a 10-4 record, Geller and Adler 8-0, and Rosenblum and Collins were 7-1. Coach Ron Smarr said he was pleased with the effort of the entire team and hopes that we will do even better next year. Four members of the squad will going to the NCAA's in Princeton on June 18-23. USC tackle John LeHeup has been chosen to play in the Coaches' All America all-star football game this summer in Lubbock, Tex. Two members of Coach Bobby Richardson's baseball team will tour eight Latin American countries this summer as members of the Sports Ambassadors' team. Outfielder John Gambrell of Manning, S.C., and catcher Drew Choate of Sparta, N.C., will visit Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Panama, Colombia, Nicaragua, Ecuador and Peru during June and July. Gambrell and Choate will play on a baseball team coached by former Taylor University Coach Jack Kin against teams from the Central and South American countries visited. Sports Ambassadors is a division of Overseas Crusades and its pur poses are to extend good will and to build understanding on a people to-people basis and to exemplify the sportsmanship, clean .iving and good conduct inherent in the teach ings of the Bible. Since 1952, 32 Sports Ambas sadors teams have played more than 1,500 games and conducted more than 3,600 meetings before nearly six million spectators in 36 countries. This summer for the first time Carolina will hold a footbalf camp for boys, ages 10-17. The June 24-29 camp will feature the teaching of the Carolina veer offense and some former Gamecock standout players including Jim Mitchell, Jimmy Nash, Al Usher, Mike Haggard and Rick Brown.
