RuggE BY MARK LEARY Sports Writer Carolina's Rugby team trounced Davidson 64-0 here Sunday. After the first five minutes of play it was evident that the game would be a complete run away. The Carolina ruggers compiled 64 points coming on 13 scoring plays. This was the highest point total ever at Carolina, with the previous high being 44. Next it was Muir's turn to tally as he picked the ball up out of the scrum and ran ten yards for the score. Muir also converted the points after kick and this made the score 10-0. Larry Healy was next to get into the scoring act on this hot, humid Sunday as he scampered 25 yards for the score, after e "?nt latur als from Wynn to Hayc.. Freddy Holland, a long-time rug ger at Carolina, was next to do the one-man act with a length of the field run. Bill Black ran 25 yards throwinga beautiful stiff arm on the way which flattened the defender and then at the last possible moment passed to Chris Lee who in turn lateraled to Hayes who dove in for the score. This moved the score to 22-0. Almost all of the backs got into the act on the next play as Muir passed to Wynn who passed to Hayes who in turn passed to Larry Healy who hit Dr. Jim Clapper with a pinpoint pass and he ran into the end zone untouched for the score. ti. ociety of the United States. Muir added the points after to make the score at half an amazing 34-0. This is usually the final score in a typical rugby match but on this day the game was far from over. Ultimately it was a great tune-up for next weekend's big series in Georgia." Next week the Carolina team will travel down to Atlanta to play the Atlanta Renegades on the 10th and the next day they will do battle with the Rugby Club of Atlanta.
