Work-study
jobs now
available
A large number of work
study positions are open to USC
students who qualify for the
Federally-assisted program,
according to Robert B. Jeter of
Student Aid.
In order to qualify for work
study, Jeter said that a student
must first fill out a confidential
statement from parents, which
is analyzed to see if the student
comes from a "financially
needy family."
"There is actually no max
imum income for a family,"
Jeter said. "We also take into
consideration how many other
children from the family are in
school, how many additional
persons are being supported by
the family and how much in
debt the family is. Much more
is considered than just income."
Students who are living more
or less independantly away
from home and who wish to
qualify for work-study must fill
out a students' financial state
ment, Jeter said. The stipula
tion on this program is that a
student may not have been
claimed as a dependant on his
family income taxes for the past
calendar year.
Jeter said that students who
are accepted work in such
places as the libraries, food ser
vices and as typists in various
academic departments. There
is no required minimum
number of hours to work aweek
but the student may not exceed
15 hours. Work may be
scheduled around class hours.
The pay is $1.60 an hour and
Jeter said applications for the
program may be picked up in
room 110 of the Pendleton
Building.
