Ray Meyer will bring his DePaul
Blue Demons into Carolina
Coliseum for the second straight
year but the outcome of the contest
is not likely to vary much from
USC's 91-67 victory last year-un
less the difference comes from the
Gamecock side of the score.
Meyer has coached for 30 seasons
now and has piled up a winning trad
ition of 464 games in his collegiate
coaching career, and so his 12-11
squad of last year had to be one of
the weaker Meyer products.
Unfortunately the Blue Demons
may not have improved enough to
alter their status to any measurable
degree. But then again, when a
squad adds young players there is
always the potential for greatness
present and that is what the DePaul
mentor is hoping for.
DePaul agains retains its ability
to score points as the probable start
ing lineup flaunts four returnees
who hit in double figures with their
scoring.

It seemed odd that last year's
team featured tiny 6-2 forward Al
Burks as the leading rebounder
from the previous season. Well,
once again the short boardman
returns as the leading rebounder on
the squad, and this time he also
owns the leading scoring role with
respective totals of 8.2 and 20.3 an
affair.

With just the score and not'
the rebound, DePaul would appear
to be destined to a season hovering
around the break-even level. But
their destiny is not sealed since
Meyer's upcoming sophomore and
freshmen players lend optimistic
notes to the outlook.
Up from last year's 24-1 frosh
team is 6-7, 230 Bill Robinzine who
has learned to throw his muscular
frame under the boards in the quest
for the rebound.
The sophomore class also lends
more scoring punch in 5-9 guard
Creg Boyd, an 18.4 a game man.
Six-ten freshman Andy Pancratz
has the Blue Demon staff feeling
they have a blue-chipper present
and he should see considerable time
under the boards.
The question at DePaul is whether
the young boys coming in can pick
up the rebounding slack, while the
returnees continue to score, and old
coach Meyer continues to win.
