Top returnees from last year's squad, a team that scored an aver age of 92.4 ppg, seventh in the nation, are guards Mike D'Antoni and Ty Collins, forward Randy Noll and swingman Bill James. All are seniors. D'Antoni, who has broken every assist record at Marshall as well as scoring in double figures in each of two varsity campaigns, can be con sidered a true candidate for All America honors. D'Antoni was named to the Marshall and Milwaukee all tournament teams, as well as being selected as a first team Academic All-America. Among his other hon ors, D'Antoni was handpicked by U. S. Olympic coach Henry Iba to par ticipate in the Olympic trials last summer. Noll, a 6-8 senior, begain his bas ketball career at Kentucky but transferred to Marshall after his sophomore year. During that span he was named the UK's outstanding frosh but only saw limited duty as soph. Noll, playing as a forward last season, averaged 12.6 rebounds pg, tops on the squad. If Daniels' center situation becomes desperate, Noll will move inside to the pivot but the Herd would lose his good outside shooting in the switch. Collins, who mans the other guard spot, was the Herd's leader in field goal percentage last season hitting at 52.7 percent and averaging 15.1 ppg. James, a swingman, started a number of games and contributed 8.8 points per contest. The Herd, even with their center problem and without an overabun dance of heigth, are a good, solid experienced team. Even if Jackson fails to develop in the pivot, this team has the ability to make Daniels first season in the big leagues a pleasant one. "..
