Next Tuesday, many students will have

"minibottle" proposal has been backed by
a very active lobby, The Foundation for
Modern Liquor Regulations and Controls.
The Foundation lists the following
reasons for support of the measure: it will
provide a uniform statewide system which
will restrict public consumption of
alcoholic beverages to regulated quan
tities purchased under controlled circum
stances (ending the disgusting brown
bagging law); it will bring in a minimum
of.$12,700,000 per year in new tax
revenaue; it will potentially mean less
crime and fewer highway fatalities; it will
give law enforcement personnel the
mechanism for better controls.
Sumter Police Chief Leslie W. Griffin,
president of the S. C. Police Chief's Execu
tive Association has said that police offi
cials throughout the state feel that the
minibottle is a more practical proposal.
We feel that the minibottle proposal is
a giant step in bringing South Carolina out
of the dark ages. We agree with the
Modern Liquor Foundation's assertions,
and strongle endorse the proposal... To
vote for these two amendments, and the
others, you must get the constitutional
revision ballot at polling places. Put an
"X" in the boxes that say "in favor of the
amendment." Help make South Carolina
a better place to live.
