of the season outlook bleak at best.
Miami controlled the game from
the beginning as its junior tailback;
Bob Hitchens, who was to ramble
for 218 yards on 45 carries and two
touchdowns, experienced very
little resistance from the Carolina
defense.
Hitchens guided the Redskins to
a 14-0 halftime lead and from that
point on the Gamecock come back

On the Redskins' second
possession of the game, they
engineered a time-consuming nine
minute and 21-second drive for a
score in which Hitchens carried 12
times for 46 yards and the touch

frantically passed in an attempt to
catch up, and did so using a
quarterback who's forte is surely
not the forward pass.
Some seven minutes into the
second quarter Hitchens decided to
improve his statistics against the

The comeback aspirations of
