r Grant; BY BILL GRANT Sports News Editor NEW ORLEANS-The Carolina Biddies rode the passing of quarter back Jeff Grantz to a 29-14 victory over the Tulane freshman, Saturday night in New Orleans. The Biddies kept their undefeated season intact, while the Baby Billows were handed their first loss in two starts. Grantz, forced to pass because of Rugby club tops Tigers BY MARK LEARY Sports Writer The Carolina Rugby Club, show ing an excellent team effort, com pletly dominated Clemson as they trounced the Tigers 32-0, bringing their season record to 3-0. Nick Canizares opened the scor ing with about two minutes gone in the game and from there on in it was all Carolina. Canizares also added Carolinas only score of the second half. Player coach Dr Frank Walton said of Canizares and all the for wards, "We finally got the balanced attack with forward Canizares scor ing twice. Also the forwards moved the ball well, putting the backs in good scoring range." The powerful Gamecock backs contributed the rest of the scoring. Warren Muir an All-American full back in football at Carolina was the standout among the backs. He scored twice, once on a short burst and the second time on a field length run. Walton said of Muir's play, "It was inevitable that Warren would break loose and score soon, and today was his day." The rest of the scoring went as follows: Walton, eight, Charlie Beale, four; and Burke Hayes, four. Probably the toughest opponent of the fall schedule will be here next week when U.N.C. comes to Carolina on Sunday for a two o'clock match. They are 3-1 this season with their only loss against Richmond, a powerhouse in Rugby. Russ Jackson, Carolina's leading ball carrier coming into the contest with 456 yards, could mus ter only 51 in 20 carries against the large and mobile line of Tulane. The Biddies as a unit rushed for 46 yards, a paltry figure when com pared to previous outings.
