District C
Enjoins F
Student Senate elections,
scheduled for Wednesday, have
been enjoined by District Court III
Justice Paul Cantrell of the Student
Government.
This means all campaigning must
cease pending a hearing by the full
court to be held 7 p.m. Monday in
the Russell House.
Basis for the injunction was a pet
ition presented to the court by Bar
bara Eastes. The petition made' the
allegations that the filing hours
were not long enough, that there
was no five days' notice of the filing
date and that filing fees were not
collected by process outlined by
student government requirements.
Cantrell said, "This injunction
does not necessarily mean that I
agree with the charges made by the
ptitioners. It's just that I want to
ld off the elections until the mat
ter has been discussed and
decided."
Subject to the court's decision,
polls for the Student Senate elec
tions will be open Wednesday from
10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Polling places will be stationed at
the Coliseum, for off-campus stu
dents only, Russell House, Towers,
Bates House, Women's Qyad, and
Columbia Hall.

Election
These elections are for vacant
seats which would not normally be
empty, but the former holders res
igned for various reasons.
"The injunction against the elec
tion does not mean that the election
is automatically postponed, but I
would guess that it will be," said
Doug Dent, chief justice of the Stu
dent Supreme Court.
If the election is Tescheduled,.
these polling dates and places
should be disregarded.
'NC' syste
By SHARON EDSALL
Since the introduction of the NC
(no credit) grading system the stu
dent survival rate has been better
than in previous years, M. D.
Tavenner of Personnel and Institu
tional Research said.
He said that it used to be rela
tively easy to predict the number
of dropouts every year, but because
of the NC, more students are being
r;admitted.

He said it may be possible to use
the videotape equipment of South
Carolina ETV network through a
coordinated effort between the
University and the network.
Frank McCollogh, Dr. Dunlap's
teaching assistant, has been respon
sible for obtaining many of the films
that are used in teaching the Film
Experience, McCollogh said
further coordination in the distribu
tion and presentation of films can
greatly benefit the students' back
ground and general knowledge of
the film world.
Currently, the required films are
shown in the Russell House on Thur
sday afternoons. Although the view
ings are limited to the students
enrolled in the course, every effort
is made to make these films avail
able to interested persons in the
Russell House.
If one is interested in taking the
