Few visitors to Myrtle Beach can
miss publicity for the University's sum
mer theater production "Oklahoma!", and a
according to Zane Knauss, director of .' ' '
Information Services, the effort has paid
off.
With an average of 400 persons viewing
the daily performances attendance has
undergone a substantial increase from the
efforts of last year. Part of this is due to
the enormous marquee of the Convention
Center as well as a scattered billboard or
two, each proclaiming the fact that an
alternative to the roller coaster and the
Beach Club exists.
A company of 70 actors, singers, dan
cers, musicians and technicians, under
Director Russell Green, have worked to
give the production a reputation which is
attracting vactioners at the Grand Strand.
The romantic comedy, set on the
western prairies in the final years of the
19th century, brought Richard Rogers and
Oscar Hammerstein, Il together. Starring
Adrian Elder, Joyce Parker, Janie Jones,
Michael Fauss, Randy Browning, Ray
Morris and Melanie Vaughn, the play is
the major production of the USC Summer
Theater.
The show will be presented at 8:30 p.m.
Mon. - Sat. through August 11.
