Fcrim( A discussion on "Crime and Rape" is scheduled for 8 p.m. tomorrow in Columbia Hall with members of the sociology and psychology faculties. Topics will include crime in society, rape as a crime affecting women and causes of crime. STARK RECEPTION The USC College of Journalism will hold a reception Wednesday, April 19, honoring Dr. Kenneth Stark of the journalism faculty, co author of the book "Back Talk -- Press Councils in America." The reception will be 3-4:30 p.m. in the journalism library in Carolina Coliseum. The book is a study of the per formance of press councils, which are non-government agencies designed as intermtediaries bet ween newspapers and readers. BIKE RALLY Eco-70's will sponsor a bike rally today at 1:30 p.m. in conjunction with Earth Week ecology ac tivities. Riders will leave Russell House parking lot about 1:30 and ride to the Capitol, where they will discuss plans for the remainder of Earth Week. Then they will ride down Main Street to Columbia College and will return by 3 p.m. for free refreshments. Todd Pearson of Eco-70's said the ride will proceed at a medium pace to allow all riders to keep up with the group. THE CRUCIBLE Students interested in joining The Crucible Literary Magazine for next year should send their names, addresses and telephone numbers to Campus The Crucible, Box 5173. CRAFT FAIR The University Union will sponsor a craft fair Sunday from 1 6 p.m., April 23, on the ramp over Blossom Street. Craftsman will be showing and selling their wares. SPIRIT COMMITTEE An organizational meeting of the ",newly resurrected" Spirit Committee of the University Union will be held at 7 p.m. in Russell House room 306. VOLUNTEER SERVICES The Voluntary Action Council o Services will have ar organizational retreat Saturday April 22. The VAC retreat will be concerned with establishing the goals and objectives of the organization. Anyone interested in volun teerism is invited to attend. Please call the Volunteer Services office, 3171, if you are interested. Plan to meet in front of the Russell House at 7:30 a.m., transportation will be provided. The session will con clude around 4 p.m. SUMMER THEATRE Auditions for orchestra musicians in the USC Summer Theatre program at Myrtle Beach are scheduled for this Saturday, April 22 at Drayton Hall. The auditions will be 10-12 a.m., and 10 musicians are needed for the June 18-Aug. 12 summer program. Director Russell Green said instruments needed in the or chestra are flute, oboe, clarinet, horns, harp, trumpet, trombone, drums and strings. The USC Theatre will produce the musical "Oklahoma!" for 36 performances at th Myrtle Beach Convention Center. GRAHAM LECTURE Bill Graham, the owner of Fillmores East and West, will be appearing in the Russell House Cafeteria at 8 p.m. tomorrow. His appearance is sponsored by the University Union Lecture Com mittee. BUSINESS SEMINAR The Management Center at USC's College Business Ad ministration has announced its upcoming Sales Management Seminar scheduled for May 9-10. The two-day program is an in tensive seminar designed to meet the needs of present and potential sales personnel managers and for sharpening and updating man agerial skills. Willard Davis of the University, president of the Oak Ridge Assoiated Universities (ORAU), delivered the opening talk here Tuesday at a special Conference of ORAU presidents. ORAU is an educational and research cooperation of 43 leading southern universities operating under contract with the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission. The conference of presidents is part of ORAU's 25th anniversary celebration. BUILDING PROJECT A meeting to discuss future building projects on campus - including the widening of Pickens Street - will be held April 24 in Capstone with Vice-President for Business Affairs Harold Brunton. Brunton will discuss develop ments with interested students. The hearings on the widening of Pickens Street, scheduled to take place over the Easter holidays, was postponed and will be re scheduled after this meeting. DAY CAMP VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Bell Camp Summer Day Camp needs five volunteers to help with morning activity periods, five days a week for a minimum of six weeks this summer. The participating children, those from University families and from families in urban Columbia, will be offered activities such as swimming, boating, softball, basketball, soccer, archery, nature hiking and arts and crafts. Rainy day ac tivities will include visits to the planetarium, fire department, police station and movies in the Russell House. Each day will in clude three activity periods, about 45-60 minutes long.
