Students' paradox
A recent survey conducted by the National Scholarship
Service and Fund for Negro Students, a . nonprofit
organization founded in 1946 to help black high school
students choose their colleges, found that two-thirds of
graduating black high school students thought that
"authorities" were not aware of the black man's plight.
Of the 54,000 students interviewed, 67 per cent said that
they thought integration was good.
This appears to be a paradox. On one hand, the black
students thought that the authorities, which we generally
concede to be white, are not aware of blacks' problems and
yet on the other hand they do think that integration, the
intermingling with whites, the group of whom the
authorities are composed, was good.
While it is a. paradox, it is also reassuring to a degree.
The black students are willing to admit that the
"authorities" have screwed them over, but they are also
willing to try again with integration.
And what does this mean for whites? It means black
students are open to find harmony within an integrated
society. Thus, whites have to do their share.
Virgin Lib arrives
Virgin Lib has arrived. May's Esquire has an article on
the hard core of the founding American Virgin Liberation
Front.
Needless to say, the members are liberated and plan to
forgeon with the fight for virginity. And--get this--anybody
.can join. You don't even have to be a virgin. All you have to
do is believe in their motto: "Virginity is no laughing
matter."

The University is embarking ori
two restoration projects that could
have tremendous effect on the
esthetic value of the campus. The
largest and by far the most im
portant program is the renovatior
of the Horseshoe.
For years administrators,
faculty members and students
have said at one time or another
that something should be done
about the oldest segmen- ' the
campus. It took a coalition if all
three to get the plan rolling, but the
impetus was provided by a
student, David Spinazzolo, student
body president.
Even though many of his ideas
have not met with the full approval
of the administration, many of
Spi.nazzolo's plans are being
followed and will mean a dramatic
change on the Shoe in the next five
to ten years. The plans include
renovating the interiors into
apartment complexes,
