Sports Editor Carolina's baseball bats went strangely silent during the last four games and as a result the baseball Gamecocks could manage only a split of doubleheaders with Central Michigan, on Firday, and Duke on Saturday, at Rex Enright Athletic Center. Collectively the Gamecocks batted only .177 in the four games, managing merely 16 hits in some '90 ventures to the plate. Carolina obtained no more than six hits in any one contest and were the victims of a no-hitter in the second game of the Central Michigan twin-bill.
