Sports Editor In the wake of a 91-67 defeat, DePaul head coach Ray Meyer seemed more upset with the fact that his team had been called for four technical fouls than he was with -his team's loss. The post-game comments of the Blue Demons' mentor dealt predominately with the technical foul calls, especially with one which was called on Meyer himself. "I haven't had a technical called on me in 32 years of coaching," said Meyer. "Our man was almost decapitated under the basket," explained Meyer, "and all I said was, 'he murdered him under the basket', and then the referee turned around, stuck his tongue out, and called a technical." "I don't like any guy who sticks his tongue out when he calls a foul. If I had been close enough I'd have knocked it out," said Meyer. They didn't need any help. "He (the referee) took us right cut of the ball game at the start of the second half. He disrupted our team. Our players started playing against the referees in stead of against the other team. We had to restrain several of our players from going after the referee. "We would have lost anyway, maybe by 10 or 12 points, but not like this (24 points). This wasn't fair to the players or the fans," said Meyer. Meyer explained his future plans on this issue, "In all the years I've been coaching I've sent one letter about a game, and that was to the Big Ten officials about 20 years ago. Carolina jumped ahead to a 42-36 halftime victory margin on nine straight points by Cox. Cox added two more points to his scoring streak at the beginning of a second half in which the entire USC team totaled a lofty 53 points and rolled to an easy 95-73 victory. Three other Carolina freshmen joined the game's leading scorer, Cox, in double-figure scoring totals. Ward pumped in 14 points, Walsh scored 12 points, and George Felton added 12 points. Walsh had nine assists in the contest, giving him a USC fresh man record of 74 assists on the season, with nine games remaining in the campaign. Steve Heinzelman and Bell paced Georgia Southern in scoring with totals of 28 and 26 points, respectively. The victory raised the Biddies' season record to 8-5, while Georgia Southern fell to a 1-1:3 mark on the year.
