Dr. Francis Lord, director of
the Lancaster Regional
Campus of USC since 1965, has
announced his resignation
from that post in order to
assume full-time classroom
teaching duties.
The resignation is effective
July 1. Lord will remain in
Lancaster to teach at the USC
branch.
Dr. John J. Duffy, USC
associate provost for regional
campuses, commended Lord's
achievements at USC.
Lancaster and said efforts are
underway now to find a suc
cessor.

Lord said his return to full
time teaching will allow him
"to be doing what I like best."
A native of Los Angeles,
Lord earned his B. S. degree at
the University of
Massachusetts and M. A. and
Ph. D degrees at the Univer
sity of Michigan. He is a noted
scholar specializing in the
Civil War and has written
several books on Civil War
subjects.
Prior to coming to Lancaster
in 1965, he was a research
analyst with the Central In
telligence Agency for 14 years.

Russian poet Yevgeny Yev
tushenko, one of the world's top
literary figures.
Also appearing will be James
Dickey, poet-in-residence and
professor of English at the
University, and Barry Boys, a
noted English actor. The program
begins at 8 p.m. and admission is
free.
The Soviet poet is appearing
here at the University as the first
stop on a tour of the United States
arranged by Doubleday and Co.,
publisher of Yevtushenko's latest
book, "Stolen Apples."

SIX FLAGS
With Six Flags Over Georgia's
1972 season slated to begin April 1,
the park's Operations Show
Department is searching for talent
to staff the Six Flags Crystal Pistol
shows and for on-grounds en
tertainment throughout the park.
Each year Six Flags' audition
teams tour college campuses
across the United States to
audition vocalists, dancers, in
strumentalists, comedians and
other individual and group acts.
Auditions will be held at 3 p.m.
Thursday at the Suzanne Little
Recital Hall, Queens College in
Charlotte.
According to David Blackburn,
producer of Six Flags' shows,
lalent will not only audition for Six
Flags Over Georgia, in Atlanta.
but for shows at Six Flags Over
Mid-America in St. Louis, Mo., and
for Six Flags Over Texas,
Arlington, Texas.
