C. 2920R Wednesday, January 1,, 1972 Bill would change ticket distribution BY KARIN BURCHSTEAD Staff Writer A bill calling for a more equitable method of athletic ticket distribution will be introduced today in the Student Senate by Athletic Committee Chairman Clint Sloan. The bill would base ticket distribution on the number of credit hours earned at USC or its regional campuses rather than on class rank. "'Students have come to me asking that the student government seating section be abolished and that a better method of distribution be devised,'" Sen. Sloan said. "'The way the system is presently, graduate students in their first year of enrollment at USC receive better seats than someone who has attended and paid fees for three years.'' "I feel this is unfair,"' he said. Under Sen. Sloan's bill the student government's and the student body president's special seating sections would be dissolved. The bill states that effective Fall semester, 1972, tickets would be distributed according to the following rules: Students who have earned from 0-25 hours at USC or its regional campuses shall sit in the section to be formally known as the freshman section; students who have earned from 26-55 hours at USC or its regional campuses shall sit in the sophomore section; students who have earned from 56-85 hours shall sit in the junior section; students who have earned from 86-115 hours shall sit in the senior sec tion; and those with 116 hours and above shall sit in the graduate section. The bill further states that only hours earned at USC or its regional campuses would be used in determining a student's classification and that tickets would be distributed according to the time-digit release system. Sen. Sloan said he would hold the bill in the Athletic Committee for two weeks to give students an opportunity to comment on it. "'I want to see how the majority of the students feel about this,"' he said. "'If they don't like It I'll ask .for a better suggestion."' Russell House adds hours Russell House weekend hours will be extended beginning Friday night, according to David Ness, University Union director. The Russell House will remain open until 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 a.m. Sunday, Ness said. Tentatively the number of movie showings also may be increased to three per night on weekends.
