Late in the second quarter Dave Hines scored on another long gallop down the side line. The P PAT failed and the score at half time was Townmen 13-0. By the third quarter both defenses had settled down to play an excellent game, and the punting games began to play apart, setting up the lone Bates score. Townmen punted the ball to Bates and it was taken by Billy Rice, who returned the ball the length of the field for the TD. The PAT failed. In the final quarter both teems continued to punt the ball, managing enty samN drives of which emy Towsm*en coubd manage another score. Once again it was the running of Dave Nines and the excellent blocking of the line that gave Townmen the score. The een version failed and the final score was 1H- in favor of the Townmen. In other games P1 Kappa Alpha defeated Alpha Tau Omega 25-6. PiKa, led by the passing of Marty Appel and a good defense never were behind in the game. Both teams seted down to play hard in the second quarter, neither allowing a scere. In other Fraternity playoff action, Chi Psi scored early, then held off continued threats to upset dfending champion Sigma Nu, 13 Chi Psi used the running and aing of Mike Norton to jump out o a 13-0 lead. "I've really been pleased by the squad's attitude to date," said McGuire, "They are ready to play now, as far as being in shape and having the desire to get started on the season go."
