USC Bands to sponsor lecture University Bands will sponsor a lecture and panel discust ion by Dr. Harold Bachman tomorrow, Nov. 13 at the University Band Hall, 511 South Main Street. Dr. Bachman is currently Director Emeritus of the University of Florida Bands. He formerly conducted U.S. Army Bands and also was Director of Bands at the University of Chicago. Among his most recent honors are the Florida Hall of Fame Award, Honorary Doctor of Music degree from North Dakota State University and an Honorary Doctor of Literature from University of Idaho. He will be at the University Band Hall at 9 a.m. for a coffee hour which will be followed by a per formance of the University Band's jazz ensemble "Silver Spurs" from 9:30 until 10. After this, Dr. Bach man will lecture on "The Role of Band Music in American Culture." A panel discussion on "Bands Past, Present, and Future" with Dr. Bachman, high school band directors and University Band staff will end the morning's program. Tickets $4-$3 for students. Tom DiFiglio, chairman of the Concert Committee said "The Guess Who completely changes when it does a concert. They come out and do "Laughing" or "Albert Flasher" and then they undergo a complete transformation. They become a very heavy group. The recording group and the concert group are two different things." Backing "Guess Who" will be "Gypsy" an up and coming group that is doing back-up work now but who will be headliners next year. Also, tonight at Bates House from 8-12, Philip Constellation Enterprises presents "Christus" and "Efird." Efird is a soloist with an electric guitar who does Neil Young, Dylan and his own music.
