It started all over again. You
would think that the outside
agitators would have let up on the
Gamecock Soothsayer after he had
chosen Carolina correctly four
iimes in a row. Such was not the
case, however.
Hate letters from as far away as
Myrtle Beach (yes, the GCSS is
read near and far by all sports
minded people) greeted the
resident risktaker as he was forced
to hold up in an unidentified file
cabinet somewhere in the Russell
House. Three times he was ver
bally assaulted by viscious mobs
outside of his meager office.
Last week, 38-13-0, .743; for the
season, 247-86-3, .742. It was quite
obvious that after a big
Homecoming weekend, the poor
prognosticator was not up to par.
For the third time in a row, the
weekly percentage fell below .750.
Things were not looking up.
Florida State showed the
Gamecocks what a good offense is.
Unfortunately, this weekend
brings more of the same. Georgia
sports one of the best ground
games in college football, as wel*
as a tough defense that has givey.
up only 48 points in seven gamg#.
On the other hand, USC is
rebounding from their second loss
oft he season, a 49-18 shellacking at
the hands of FSU. In addition to
this, Chuck Mimms, who was
expected to return for the en
counter, sustained another injury
that will sideline him for the
remainder of the season. But
Carolina always plays Georgia a
good game in Columbia...just not
good enough. Georgia 35, USC 14.
Colorado takes on number one
Nebraska in one of the weekend's
highlights. The Buffs have vic
i ories over Ohio State and LSU this
season, but took quite a beating

Oklahoma is fresh off of one of

711 yards on the ground in a close

These scrimmage games have got

The top game in the West pits

Arizona State. State lost their first

Georgia's receiving corps does not
have impressive credentials, Lynn
Hunnicutt being the leader with'
nine receptions for 87 yards.
Jimmy Shirer has grabbed eigw
for 97.
The Bulldog defense is paced
strong-side linebacker Chip
Wisdom and cornerback Buzzy'
Rosenburg. Wisdom is a bona-fide
All-America candidate, while
Rosenburg is a threat as a punt
return specialist.
Georgia's offensive line out
weighs USC's quick defenders by a
twenty-four pound margin, 230-206.
The Gamecock offensive line is
outweighed by only three pounds,
however, 217-214.
After Oregon scored 25 points os
Georgia in the opener, the Bulldogs
defeated Tulane 17-7, then shut out
Mississippi State and Clemsoni the

a 38-7 triumph over Mississippi,
