William Kunstler, .educator,
author and lawyer, will appear in
lecture at 8 p.m. Oct. 18 in the
Campus Room of Capstone.
Kunstler, contracted by the
University Union Lecture Com
mittee in conjunction with the USC
Law School, was counsel for the
late Martin Luther King, the
NAACP and the American Civil
Liberties Union.
Probably best known for his
defense of the "Chicago 7," his
more recent involvement was with
the Attica State Prison situation.

Kunstler received his BA degree
from Yale University in 1941 and
his LLB from Columbia University
in 1948. A break in his education
came during World War II when he
served as an Army major and
received the Bronze Star.
After receiving his law degree,
in 1949 he opened the law part
nership of Kunstler, Kunstler and
Kinoy in New York City. This was
in conjunction with intermittent
teaching lectures at Columbia
University, New York Law School,
Pace College and The New School.

Kunstler also was the recipient
of the "Press Award New York
State Bar Association" in 1957,
"The First Award of the Ohio
Radio and Television Institute" in
1960 and the "Civil Rights Award"
in 1963.
He is the author of eight books
including "Our Pleasant Vicep",
"The Law of Accidents", "First
Degree", "Beyond a Reasonable
Doubt?", "The Case For
Courage", "And Justice For All",
"The Minister and the -Choir
Singer", and "Deep in My Heart".
