The National Ballet of
Washington opens the Columbia
Music Festival Association's 1971
72 Artist Series Wednesday at 8:00
in Township Auditorium with the
production of "The Sleeping
Beauty."

Disease has been established in the
Undergraduate Library.
The table is part of a con
temporary issues reading program
sponsored jointly by the Division of
Student . Affairs and The Un
dergraduate library.
E. Maxwell, graduate assistant
to student affairs, said the topic
was chosen because "October is
VD Awareness Month in South
Carolina. We hope to bring it home
to students that VD is a problem in
South Carolina."
Articles from migazines have
been collected, duplicated and
placed in folders for the students to
read. "We also have books on
reserve," Maxwell said. "There is
a list of those on the table, as well
as statistical information."
He said that the program "hopes
to provide factual information to
students on topics of interest to
them." In November, the topic will
be drugs. Since December is exam
time, the program will present
information on study skills that
month. Sex will be the issue for the
spring semester.
Maxwell said that he would
welcome any student suggestions
on topics or sources of information.

dance as guest artists. Dame
Margot will dance the title role of
Princess Aurora and Labis will
dance as Prince Florimund.
Dame Margot's career began at
the age of 14 when she was at the
Sadler's Wells Ballet School.
Almost immediately, she made her
first appearance with the company
dancing in the corps de ballet of
"'the Nutcracker." Two years
later, Fonteyn began dancing all
the leading roles in the classical
and modern repetoire.
She undertook the dual roles of
Odette and Odile, at 18, in the
ballet Swan Lake.
October 12, Dame Margot will
dance the role of the Sleeping
Beauty in the National Ballet of
Washington's debut at the Ken
nedy Center for the Performing
Arts. October 6, Columbia
audiences will have the op
portunity of seeing this new
production before its national
debut.
The University Union Artist
Series has obtained a limited
number of tickets to the per
formance and tickets are free to
USC students with I.D. and may
be picked up at the Union offices.
-Due to the limited number of
tickets, faculty and staff IDs will
not be honored.
The performance will be Wed
nesday at Township Auditorium at
8 00.

through an intensive interview by
students and faculty currently
involved in CU," Kasschau said.
"If a student is interested and
has a project proposal or even a
general area in mind, come to see
us as there are many faculty who
would like to have a semester
working with a student," Stirling
said.
The CU offices are rooms one
and three on the first floor of the
Humanities office building. Office
hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and often
