The ability to communicate with students is an important factor in unity Walker said. Beginning this week student government officers will be going to each dorm to talk with students. "We want to let them know what we have been doing and find out what they want us to do. We want to try to relieve some of the apathy on cam pus," Walker said. "We know who we are responsible to and they in turn are responsible to us,'" he said. Operated through the Office of Coed Affairs with Secretary Vicki Eslinger, the hotline is for any student with school or domestic problems. The hotline is a referral service acting only to refer students to the Counseling Bureau, local ministers or, in the case of unwanter; pregancies, to reputable agencies: The Hotline operates 1e' ween 7:30 and 10: 30 p.m. and can be reached by calling the student government office numbers 4256 and 4257. Walker is trying also to get freshmen interested in student government. Tim McConnell, secretary of freshman affairs, plans to meet with freshmen Sept. 20 to show them how they can actively contribute to the University. Freshmen will be invited to join University committees, th 4 st. Walker said he wants the evaluations to "accent the positive and kill the negative." Past evaluations covered only the College of Arts and Science, but this year Walker plans to cover every school.
