A Search Committee composed
of three students and a faculty
member has been formed to select
the new director of the University
Union. This Is the first time that a
formal student committee will
screen applicants and have a
mhjor voice in the final decision.
The committee members are
Virginia McMillan, vice president
for entertainment committees,
Tom DiFiglio, chairman of the
concert committee, Kathy Jen
nings, secretary of the Student
Government and Richard
Kasschau, a psychology professor.
Robert Alexander, dean for
student activities, said the com
mittee wants to find "a man who is
student personnel oriented and can
understand the complexities of all
parts of the Union."

Jullianne Still, vice president of
Student Government, said "we just
want the students in the Union to
have a voice in the choosing of the
new director."
"Lew Tyler was accessible if you
wanted to go on the elevator to the
fourth floor and find him,"
Virginia McMillan said. "There
was a direct conflict in concept
because he was not in the center of
things at all times. In the Search
ComIaLtee we are looking for
someone with expertise in
programming contracts and
ability to talk with ~ various
agents." The person must be ex
tremely open minded and as ob
jective as possible. We need an
advisor that will give enough room
for students to grow. It seems the
last decision was made too hastily
and we will keep looking until we
find the right person."

it's a family type organization.
You gain friendships, get to know

These are some of the benefits of
joining WUSC-AM, according to
Alan Reames, chief announcer.
WUSC is in the midst of a
membership drive--more an

are open. Any student can join and,
according to Reames, the benefits
are "fun, fun, fun." Also, members
gain experience in radio work;
"four years at WUSC helps at a
commercial station."
James Elliot, forr mr !'ation

said "it's a lot of fun and a very
