everywhere. If not, he is not anti
war. but anti-American or anti
Viet Cong. Originially the Vietnam
ant i -war movement in the U.S. was
truly anti-war, and some of it still
is, but a radical segment of it has
evolved into the type movement it
would have in the past opposed.
Robert Pickus has stated it well in
the preface to Camus' Neither
Viits nfor Executioners (p. iii),
At its best the Vietnam anti-war
movement has been an impressive
and heartening demonstration of
moral opposition to war; at its
worst it has corrupted this com
mitmeni. Lo human brotherhood
into its opposite: justifications of
hatred and violence against
America, repalcing official
justifications of violence by
America."
It is too easy to get caught up in
the romanticism of revolution. The
radical anti-war movement must
abandon its hypocritical position of
only oppowing war by the U.S.
while supporting "wars of national
liberation."

A characteristic which is
common to most radical
movements is sincerity. Making a
moral and physical commitment to
a case is not something to be done
casuaally. It involves putting one's

Editorial cartoonists are a breed unto
themselves. Dave Lewis and Mike Dudley
have taken the same subject and treated it
in a different vein. Here are two different
interpretations of the upcoming march on
Washington later this month. Cartoons can
be very thought provoking depending on
the emphasis and style of the artist. Just
as a columnist or a commentator, car
toonists maintain editorial license, The
opinion expressed by them is not
necessarily the opinion of the newspaper
or even that of the staff. These cartoons
are the product of two students using the
same medium for separate purposes.
