The Oak Read Home for the
Aged- will host members of the
University of South Carolina
Concert Choir Sunday, Febraury
28. The group which will appPar on
the same program as Bill Hen
derson. a Northwerstern
University Ph. D. candidate doing
dissertation work on ante-Bellum
Slavery in South Carolina, is ex
pected to sing selections which
have helped to make them known
and respected around the world.
The program on which the choir
will appear is a part of a series of
weekly services held at the home.
It will begin at 7 p.m. at the home
at 1122 Oak Read Street.
Henderson has served as an
organizer for the Chicago Chapter
of the Southern Christian
Ieadership Conference. He is a lay
minister of the United Methodist
Church.

McLeod requests the power of
eminent domain for public use
of the lot at 1712 Pendleton St.
The lot is located between
Henderson and Barnwell
streets on the south side of
Pendleton.
Much of the 1700 block of
College Street has already
been obtained by the University
for the business building.
Construction is tentatively
scheduled for April, com
pletion sometime in 1972.
The building took nearly two
years to plan, and was
designed by Geiger, McElveen
and Kennedy of Columbia.

plans trip
to Europe
The University Union Travel
Committee is sponosoring a trip to
Europe in June.
The :1 day trip will begin with a
flight from New York to Am
sterdam. However, this not a
guided tour. "Have fun on your
own." is the main theme.
The trip will last from June 7
through July 8 and will cost ap
proximately $130. Anyone in
terested in going should sign up at
the Russell House Information

A trip to Houston, if and when
Carolina wins the Regionals, is
being planned the Thursday
following the last game. The ap
