Carolina's Biddies go in search
of their seventh victory of the
season tonight, facing a strong
Davidson freshman team. USC,
who had won six games in a row
before dropping two straight, will
bring five players into the contest
with scoring averages in double
figures.
Peterson tops scoring
Ed Peterson paces the Carolina
offense. Averaging 28.6 points per
game, Peterson's scoring output
as only recently slipped below the
mark. His .538 percentage from
the floor also ranks as tops on the

freshman team, as does his .919
from the free throw line.
Joining Peterson in the Biddies'.
one-two scoring punch is New
York's Brian Winters. Not only
does Winters score, he averages
23.6 per game, but he is also tied
with Rick Mousa for the team lead
in rebounds, grabbing an average
of 10.3 a game. In addition,
Winters has handed out 42 assists
thus far in the season.
Mousa, besides playing strongly
on the boards, has also been an
effective shooter, putting in just
overi% points per game. Rounding
out the frosh are non-scholarship
players, Mark Little, who is
aver-1ging 11 points, Marty
Woolbright, who is pulling down
eight loose shots a game, and Ben

Davidson improving
While Carolina will be striving tc
better a 7-3 record, Davidson's
Wildkittens bring in an impressive
group of statistics. In losing only
to VMI, East Carolina, and Fur
man, the freshmen have built up
an excellent 10.3 record on the
season.
"I think we have been playing
some fine basketball recently,"
said Wildkitten coach Neill
McGeachy. "Our defensive effort
has certainly been much better

than it was earlier in the year. I
wouldn't be surprised to see two or
three of these players starting for
the varsity next year.
Falconi leads Kittens
Davidson's statistics bear out
McGeach's optimism. John
Falconi. a 6-5 wingman from New
York, leads Davidson with a 24.9
average. Falconi. one of five
scholarship players, is also pulling
down 7.4 rebounds in each game.
Mike Sorrentino ranks second
for the Wildkittens in scoring
output, averaging 15.2 points per
game. He is followed by Paul
Wagner. at 13.5. T.J. Pecorak at
12.7. and Steve Gadaire, at 11.3. All
five are on scholarship.

In the rebounding department,
Wagner paces the Wildkittens with

pulling down an even seven per
outing.
Floor percentage good
After a disappointing 3-2 start,
Davidson's frosh has bolted to a
streak that included six straight
games, and seven wins in eight
contests. This may be attributed to
the fact that, as a team, the
Wildkittens are hitting 50.6 per
cent of their shots from the floor.
The Biddies are outscoring their
opponents by an average of 12.2
points per contest. 89.9 to 77.4.
USC maintains a 48 per cent mark
from the field, while holding op
Position to under 40 per cent.
The Biddies have.also. hit 16.2 of
21.6 from the charity stripe.
