"I think our people did a good job
against Carolina's big men. Their
height didn't hurt us as much as I
thought it would, but it hurt us in
key situations. They converted a
lot of three point plays on us."
Temple began to fall behind in
the second half and Litwack ex
plained. "one of the main reasons
was that they (Carolina) got us in
Foul trouble early. Also we had to
start playing catch up ball when
they got that early lead."
Asked about his opinion of this
3arolina team, Litwack compared
he Gamecocks to fifth-ranked
lenn. the team he lost to in the
?uaker City Tournament.
"I'd say the -two teams were
ibout equal in abilities," said the
/eteran cogch. "Carolina is a little
)etter than last year. They have
adequate big men as does Penn
and two good guards.
"Roche didn't hurt us too much
with his shooting; it was his
dribling that -kept the ball away
from us and hurt us in the second
half."
Litwack had praise for his own
squad for th'eir effort in the game,
especially for Lee Tress. "I think
Tress had probably his best game
ever tonight. He really did a good
job even though he gave away a
lot of height."
The 6-7 junior reserve came ott
the bench to lead his team with 21
points and eight rebounds. The
voung center shrugged off his own
perf ormance, however, as he
hought of the games outcome, "I
hought we had the game within
