Tom Owens, a senior, dropped in 23 points and grabbed a game high 17 rebounds. Riker and Big John Ribock, another senior, muscled away 12 stray shots each. Ribock scored 9. All-America guard John Roche accounted for 16 points but had 7 assists. Junior guard Bob Carver, a possible starter, scored seven points while freshman Ed Peterson accounted for eight points, to round out the White team's scoring. Rick Aydlett, junior reserve forward, scored 16 points to lead the Garnet scorers. Brian Winters, a freshman who put on a Gamecock uniform for the first time in the public eye, shared scoring honors with Aydlett at 16. Kevin Joyce accounted for 15 and led the Garnet team in rebounds with 10. Danny Traylor gathered in 9 stray shots while dropping in 13 points. Casey Manning, another sophomore, tallied for 9 points. Freshman Rick Mousa and sophomore Jimmy Powell con cluded the Garnet teams scoring with 6 and 4 points respectively. Head coach Frank McGuire took the night off and watched the game as a spectator thus giving assistants Donnie Walsh and Bill Loving a chance to field a team as head coaches. Coach Walsh stated, "I think it was a pretty even match. We (the White team) got to the boards better than the Garnet team did. This was a good dress rehearsal for the public. They are great fans and I think we gave them a good show." When asked if they were ready, both Owens and Roche replied, "We're ready, and so is the rest of the team." win valuable rebou?nds. Mn.s alson was credited with six points in his lebut. Not to be denied was Ed Peterson, who thrilled the crowd >y bombing in some beautiful 25 oot jumpers. Peterson had the listinction of playing on the vinning squad and scoring eight oints. Coach McGuire echoed the eelings of the crowd by saying, "i was very pleased with the per ormance put on by the freshmen onight."
