No starting lineups or teams
assignments have been made and
according to Varsity psistant
Buck Freeman may not be made
until "right before game time."
The Gamecocks have had a
scrimmage in addition to their
daily practices, having a go with
Georgia's Bulldogs. The starting
lineup in that contest was Roche
and Carver at the guards, Owens
and Aydlett at forward and Riker
at center.
If Coach Frank McGuire wants
to make it a first team against
second team type of game these
five may be on one team. However,
McGuire may want to make the
game completely balanced and if
so he may split up some of the top
returners.
Also, three freshman scholar
ship players will be used. The three
Rick Mousa, Brian Winters and Ed
Peterson, were allowed to go home
over the holidays and one, Mousa,
is not expected back until late
today. Therefore, they have had
little practice.
In all, 14 players will be
available to coaches Bill Loving
and Donnie Walsh.
Roche, Owens, Riker, Ribock,
Carver, Aydlett, Kevin Joyce,
Danny Traylor, Jimmy Powell,
Casey Manning, Dennis Powell,
Mousa, Winters, and Peterson will
all see plenty of action.
Tickets are on sale at the
Coliseum, $2 for adults and $1 for
students.

and 374 points. Adolph Rupp's
Kentucky Wildcats followed with
one first and 370 points.
Jacksonville, which fell to the
Bruins in the national fVnals last
year, Is fourth with 331 points. The
[)olphins were ranked that high
despite losing head coach Joe
Williams to Furman.
Notre Dame was fifth largely on
the basis of AlI-America Austin
Carr. They had 254 points.
Marquette, Southern California,
Villanova, Western Kentucky and
Drake complete the top ten. Penn
heads the second ten followed by
Utah State, Duke, Kansas, New
Mexico State, Indiana, Houston,

North Carolina's record
breaking running back Don Mc
Cauley heads the Gamecock's 1970
All-ACC football squad.
McCauley rushed for over 1700
yards this season to surpass
Southern Cal's O.J. Simpson as the
single season rushing king.
The UNC senior is joined in the
backfield by Duke's Leo Hart, who
led the conference in passing and
total offense for the third straight
year, and other running backs
Larry Hopkins of Wake Forest and
Steve Jones of Duke.
Paul Hoolahn, who opened many
holes for McCauley, heads the line
from his tackle spot. Carolina's
Dave DeCamilla is the other tackle
with Dave Thompson of Clemson
and the Tar Heels' Jim Ham
bachler at guards.
Dan Ryczek, one of the few
bright spots in a rather dismal
season for Virginia, is the center.
Duke's Wes Chesson, who caught
more passes than any other
receiver in ACC history is one of
the ends. Chesson holds every
career pass receiving record in the
book except for touchdowns.
USC's fleet Jimmy Mitchell
holds down the other spot. Mitchell
led the conference in touchdown
passes caught while setting a
Carolina school record of seven.
Smallish Billy DuPre of Carolina ]
is the placekicker. DuPre hit 27
straight extra points before an

The USC team, which will
Dnsist of players that participated
the Intramural program, will be

ndy Gallan.
O'Brian Matthews, the USC
ach, met with Finch to prepare
uidelines for the game. Matthews
dlmitted his team runs and

aimed his team never practices.
Finch, not to be outdone,
~knowledged that his team passes
id runs while also claiming they
it too much and are a wreck from

Regardless of the outcome, the
