for the Clemson game this
weekend. There was
competition betwee, the
fraternities and men's
dorm units pitted against
the sororities and 'the
women's dorms to see who
could generate the- most
spirit.
Winners in this com
petition were Preston (who
won $50) and PI Beta Phi
Sorority (receiving a
trophy.)
The pep rally started in
front of the Russell House
- and moved to the Capitol
steps then continued on to
the intramural Fields for
the "Burning of the Tiger"
and the announcement of
the contest winners.
At the State House, Paul
Dietzel thanked the fans for
- their support. "it's
remarkable that there is so
\-,much support here tonight
ior a team that has lost five
straight games. We ap
preciate your being here."

Battiste, whose primary interest

Fox, in the Air Force ROTC
program at USC, is interested
primarily in arms control. A
member of Phi Beta Kappa and a
varsity swimmer at USC,rFo* has
made the Atlantic Coast Con
ference Honor Roll of Athletes.
Pageant
to show
precision
The University's Marching
Band, in its 12th appearan of the
season, will present a pa ant in
precision for its part in e half
time show Saturday (vember
21) of what is this sVate's top
sporting event: the Carolina
Clemson football game.
With a variety of concert and
precision marching formations,
including a special rendition from
the percussion section, the band
will play familiar tunes
Featured components of the
band include the Carolina
coquettes and their captain Sue
Kelsey.
The Marching .Gamecocks this
year have performed at 10 USC
football games and at professional
games in New York's Shea
Stadium an Atlanta Stadium. They
will share Saturday's halftime
show with the Clemson University
Marching Band.

Fellowshi
Students interested in a career In
public administration in the
national, state or local government
are offered an opportunity to apply
for a fellowship to stuoy at three
different universities.,
Candidates must be American
citizens who have completed or
who will complete a Bachelor's
degree with any recognized major
by June of 1971. Each fellowship
for single fellows has a total value
of $4,540.
The stipend is $3,300 and the
remainder of the grant consists of
the remission of fees and tuition at
the three cooperating universities.
Each fellowship for married
fellows has a total value of $4,940.
Beginning this June, fellows will
serve a three-month internship
either with a department of the
state government in Alabama,
