President Thomas F. Jon.s today
concerning the feasibility of beer
sales on campus.
A committee headed by' Dean
Charles Wittep, vice president for

problem following a SFR
recommendation of a student night
club which would sell beer.

A University Senate was the

Though no action has thus far

The Films Committee has been
plagued with numerous difficulties
since the beginning of this
semester's film series.
The appointment of Steve
Schacte as the third chairman of
the committee has solved the
immediate problem of leadership.
According to Fredrica Green, a
member of the Films Committee,
confusion concerning the contract
with the film distributors caused
the delay of the printing of ad
vertising brochures. Misplaced
movies and receiving incorrect
films have also been among the
numerous problems involved.
Complaints from students in
clude the 50 cents admission
charge for week-end showings and
the rude behavior of other people
who attend the showings. Ac
cording to Miss Green, the con
tract with the distributor requires
a charge of 70 cents per ticket.
Students who support the weekend
series receive a 20 cent discount
from the list price. This discount is

Improvements which should

Neeks are the completion of the
Assembly Room in Russell House
and the arrival of new projectors.
The films are currently being
shown in Currell College.
Carpeting has been added and
the floor has been sloped to provide
better seat for everyone. Regular
fixed theatre seats are to be in
stalled soon. The room will be also
used in the future for lectures
drawing limited crowds. The room
will hold 300.
Nearly all the recommendations
of last year's Films Committee
have been met, according to Lewis
Tyler, director of University
Union. "Harold Bruton has given
the students more than they have
asked for," Tyler said. "This is
going to be a real finq addition to
the Russell House."
