One complaint about educational
television is that it is Impersonal,
but not Carolina's ETV program.
When a student has a question
about the lecture, he pumhes a
button and asks his question over
the air. The students at other
receiving stations throughout the
state may direct questions to
either the professor or to the other
students.
Also when the professor writers
something, he doesn't stand stiffly
at a blackboard. The studenti are
switched to a camera on the
professor's desk.
There* are only two similar
programs In the United States.
They are located at Southern
Methodist University In Dallas,
Tex., and the Stanford graduate
school in Calif.

Army ROTC Commander, Yippies
came out in force to greet him.
Carrying inverted flags, the long
hairs accompanied the military
band in "It's a Grand Old Flag" on
kazoos, and played their own
rendition of "When the Saints Go
Marchin' In" as the cadets passed
in review.
UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND
South Carolina is not the only
state in which a long-hair is run
ning against an incumbent.
Madison W. Jones, a student at
Maryland. is running against
Sheriff William Kersey for the post
of Prince Georges County Sherriff.
Jones is running to "provide an
alternative."

Molten said the cooperation
received in coordinating this
project has been tremendous. He
said that Carolina already had an
outstanding university television
program, which cooperated with
the new B.A. program to make it'
a leading educational innovation in
the South. Also, Bell Telephone and
five other independant telephone
companies worked together to
make this program a success.
James F. Kane, dean of the School
of Business Administration also
deserves much credit for
recognizing the state's need for
such a program and organizing it,
according to Molten.
USC's School of Business Ad
ministration in conjunction with
ETV- has begun a program
designed to aid the businessman in
the Carolina community.
As the field of business becomes
more advanced and complicated,
the average businessman needs to
update and expand his knowledge.

Administration Classroom
Building. A "college-age man"
was seen partially disrobed by a
group of coeds outside a
classroom. The witnesses to the
act were very vague in their
description of the man other than
the fact that his jeans were down
around his knees. The man was not
apprehended because the coeds
didn't report the incident until
after the class.
UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE
The University of Delaware's
chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha
social fraternity abolished the
pledge system in favor of an
associate brotherhood program.

businessman to receive his
master's degree in business ad
ministration by attending night
classes taught through
cablevision. The student can
receive his master's degree in
three years by taking two courses
per semester and one course each
summer. The courses being
presented this semester are
Economics 719, taught by Mr.
Richard W. Molten and B.A. 737,
taught by Dr. Garnett F. Beazley.
Classes are held every Monday
and Wednesday night in 104
Wardlaw from 6:30-8:00 and from
8:00-9:30. Since enrollment ex
ceeded expectations, the overflow
of students meets in room 223 in the
B.A. building.
There are twelve receiving
stations throughout the state,
enabling businessmen in Aiken,
Charleston, Greenville, Spar
tanburg and other cities to attend
classes without coming to
Columbia and disrupting their
businesses.

Washburn University now
features an unusual course in the
Continuing Education Program.
"The American Folksong" is the
title of a course in which the
heritage of the folksong will be
tracedfrom coloniaL times.. until
the present. The program will aso
include Negro blues and spirituals,
British ballads, mountain music
and railroad songs. The format
will include tapes, recordings,
slides and live singing.
