The first annual Phi Kap In
vitational, featuring a relay beer
chugging contest, will be held on
Monday, May 4th, at Sunset Golf
Course.
The tournament, sponsored by
Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity, will
begin at 1 pm. at 1608 Sunset Drive.
Each Carolina fraternity will
enter four players who will play
nine holes a piece. The fraternity
with the lowest combined score
will be awarded a trophy for their
victory.

A "quiet revolution" has come to
the USC campus. At least that is
the term which Dave Jones
describes the College Life
movement which began at
Carolina a little more than five
months ago.
College Life here is part of the
nationwide organization, Campus
Crusade for Crist. And where
students might just shy away from
the organization because of its
name. Jones said students are
really surprised when they come
and find out what it's all about.
Most students when they come to
college put religion on the shelf,"
Jones said.

The sororities will also have a
chance to participate in the fun.
Four girls from each sorority
will keep score for two different
fraternities.
A trophy will also be awarded to
the sorority whose two respective
fraternities have the lowest
combined score.
Additional trophies will be
awarded to the best-dressed golfer
(Doug Sanders Peacock Award)
and the best-dressed scorer
(Mickie Wright Peacock Award).

approach designed to discuss the
relevancy of the college student of
today with Christ," he said.
Jones who graduated from
Wheaton College in 1965 and who
help organize the USC chapter said
the organization is in
terdenominational, "not slanted
from any one religious viewpoint."
"It is not an anti-anything,"
Jones said. "but take a positive
look at things."
The College Life has a "get
together" each Wednesday at 9
p.m. in the Faculty Club Lounge
and according to Jones the turnout
has been successful.

cording to the golf fashions of
today.
Immediately following the nine
holes of golf four members from
each fraternity will gather at the
19th hole for a relay beer-chugging
contest.
Beer will be sold during the
tournament and all spectators are
welcomed. Free bus tran
sportation will be furnished to and
from the gold course. The bus will
leave the Russell House every hour
from 12 until 4 p.m.

Some of the topics at recent
discussions have been "Is God
Down on Sex" and "What's So
Great About Jesus."
"What we're communicating is
God loves," he said, "Jesus doesn't

"We're not preaching a list of
Jo's and don'ts but sharing a
relationship with Christ that really
works."
Jones said that the meetings are
informal and give a student an
)pportunity to discuss or just listen
about the problems of college life
n relation to God.
Jones also said that there have
been many students involved with
drugs who have seen their way out
and see "how Christ can give them
everything drugs can without the
bad side effects."
According to Jones, there are a
lot of people on the sidelines who
came to college and developed the
idea that christianity was not an
intellectually "in" thing.
He said though, that through
College Life, students will be able
to see not only the personal
relevancy of a relationship with
Christ, but also the historical
relevancy.
"We are not a bunch of religious
fanatics," Jones said, "all we are
trying to do is give people a chance
to find out what Christ is all
about."

AFROTC as the year ends include
wider acceptance of girls in officer
training and the transfer of staff
members.
Air Force Times has disclosed
the about-face of Air University
concerning female applicants for
officer training in ROTC units.
Trial programs at four leading
schools were promising enough to
interest officials in an expansion
program, the paper said.
Although not an official
publication of the Air Force, The
Times did say that "AU officials
now want to allow units at all
schools hosting AFROTC the op
tion of enrolling women next fall."
