The Virginia Cavaliers built a 16
point lead in the second half but
had to steal the ball in the last
second of play to salvage a 95-93
win over North Carolina.
With All-America Charlie Scott
hitting from the outside, and
UNC's full court press giving the
Cavaliers fits, the Tar Heels pulled
close in the final minute, but
Virginia managed to hold on for
the win.
After Bill Chamberlin hit two
foul shots to pull the Heels to within
two at 95-93, Virgiia's in-bound
pass hit the back of the backboard,
and UNC got the ball with just 17
seconds remaining.
The Tar Heels got the ball, but

After watching Clemson pull a
near upset over the Gamecocks,
Jabk McCloskey, Wake's bead
coach, may be entertaining the
thought of using the same tactics
that the Tigers did. Clemson
employed a three-two offense
concentrating on making only the
highest percentage shots
preferably -layups.
Head coach Frank McGuire will
probably have his Gamecocks
work the same offense and defense
that has been the most successful
-the running game.
