RYCE RESTAURANT ONLY The Gamecocks are likely tc same kind of aggressive boai Marine by Bid By JEFF WALLACE Sports Writer Looking forward to Wednesday's game with N.C. State Frosh, USC's Biddies took an tatimpressive 82-61 win from the Quantico Marines Saturday in the Coliseum. The game started slowly with neither team hitting well from the floor. "We played pretty good but sluggish" said Kevin Joyce, whose 31 points led all scores. "We were getting the good shots, but we weren't making them," explained Freshman Coach Donnie Walsh after his team had extended their record to 11-2. The game was never close after the intermission with USC leading by at least 15 points the rest of the way. Although Joyce had a great scoring game the brightest light for USC was Danny Traylor who captured 23 remounds and hit 28 points, most of them coming on short baseline jumpers and layups. "With the great passing that I get, I can't help but make them," said Traylor speaking of the ten assists that his teammates handed out during the game. "He's playing well progressively better every game," said Coach Walsh of the biggest Biddie. Traylor who has been slowed by a knee injury that required surgery before school started in the fall said, "My knee is coming around real well. I'm pleased. The doctors said that it would take six months, and it has been five already. I'm to the point where I was last year in high school. My timing is better." The team travels to Raleigh Wednesday to take on the fresh men of N.C. State. "Inside it will be a tough game," predicted Walsh "They are big physically, no one as big as Traylor, but their front line is 6-6 or 6-7 and built well." One of those big players on the front line is Rick Holt. "We wanted him very much," said Walsh, "he is very good." In one game this season State's Frosh beat Norfolk Naval Base by 18 points. Norfolk defeated the Biddies by one point in overtime. ate. whopper. umNao"hn
