Men An
By SHERRY SHEALY
Social Editor
Carolina men last week made
public some of the characteristics
of women that annoy them most.
Several coeds asked for a chance
to reply. Women were asked, "What
about men annoys you most?"
Doris Campbell, sophomore: "I
think all men are silly. I really (o.
They're really silly. They think
they're superior to women. Then
they like a lot of love and affec
tion to go on day after day."
Nancy Marsh, s o p h o m o r e
"Their arrogance. They slop!
around with their hands in their
pockets. One thing else, too; they
come to school like they are here
to get out of the draft. It's useless
if that's all they care about."
Eileen DeLorey, junior: "I think
their bad habits mostly. Sloppiness.
They're inconsiderate."
'GRIPING'
Emily Zeigler, freshman: "Men
griping about women. No matter
how much they think of themselves,
they're little boys at heart a n d
they have to be treated as such or
their psyches will be scarred."
A n n I loll ingswvort h, freshman:
"I can't stand it when they really
like you but they won't show it.
They have to be so cool. Oh, I hate
it when they yell things out the
windows. Their definite superior
ity, but I like 'em really."
Juanita Wessinger, freshman:
"They're immature. They don't try
to understand things. They can be
real stupid at times."
TELEPHONING
Brenda Shealy, s o p h o m o r e
"Waiting on telephone calls from
them."
Pat Clary, freshman: "W h e n
they say they're gonna call and
they don't call and you sit by the
phone and finally they call and
you have to be sweet."
Ann Cary, sophomore: ".1ost of
them are sex maniacs. If half of
them could only get rid of their
egos. Most of them need to get rid
of their egos to a degree."
'PLAYBOY ATTITUDE'
Jean Knox, junior: "Their atti.
tude about wmen. They treat 'em
as unequal. They degrade them.
The n e w playboy attitude. You
know, women as playthings."
Lorraine P o 1 1 a e k, sophomore :
"The way they always think they
can get what they want. Lying.
Sneaking. The main thing is they

Judy Rawl, freshman: "Men who

have themselves, such as gossiping
and indecision."
'DIRTY FINGERNAILS'

President Thomas I. Jones: "Dirty

Rudeness. Somehody who t a I k s

there are niany more."
Beverly Neeley, junior: "They
never take us seriously. A lot of
times they think their way is the
only way until we convince them
that it's not."
Debbie Wheeler, freshman: "If
they think they are conceited and

Joyce Floyd, sophomore: "Men
that park about three miles from
where you're going and make you
walk all these blocks and when you

are too possessive. That's about all.

LAZINESS
Eileen Corley, sophomore:
"What annoys me most is men who
are too lazy to empty their own
cigarette butts, pick up bottles and
who leave popcorn mess in the
sink. I think that a man should be
dominant but I to not think that
he should run over a girl. On this
campus I have seen men try to be
big shot 'he-men' in front of their
friends and put their girlfriends
down and make them like they are
inferior beings. I have seen this,
but this is not my fiance."
Several members of Delta Delta
Delta: "Double s t a n d a r d. Self

ACTORS
Liz Segars, freshman: "B o y s
that try to act real cool w h e n
they're really not. I think if a boy
is cool he doesn't have to act like
it. Another thing is, boys who are
afraid to do things that are fun
because they're afraid their friends
won't think they're sophisticated."
A n n e MeNeely, freshman: "I
just can't stand to go out with
a boy who thinks he can (lance and
sits there and talks about it and
be's really not any good at all."
'PERSONALITY COUNTS'
Susie Pinner, freshman: "Some
tinies w h e n girls say 'Nothing'
they just don't want to burden the
boy with their problems. I disagree
with John Withrock (last week's
issue) on that point. . . . They
)ught to know that it's the per
i01n:lity that counts. Sure the looks
may reflect the personality, but
they don't make it."
Editorial comment: "Men who
lon't have a sense of humor. slen

know exactly what they are think
ing. And men who think a girl's
looks are important."
