munity.
Citing his own experience here
at U S C, McGuire acknowledged
that the write-ups on his sopho
more-studded team this season gave
the school tremendous nationwide
publicity, and has caused people
from all over the country to take
notice of the University.
"However," the (lapper coach
admitted, "it was not nlways so
easy, in that when I first arrived
here there was a certain air of mis
trust among some of the professors
for me.
"But now that they've seen what
we're doing for the school, we're
getting that cooperation from them
that we so badly need."
McGuire then cited examples of
professors calling the basketball
office and informing them of play
ers cutting classes or doing poorly
in their schoolwork.
"With cooperation like that we
can keep after these kids. Nothing
galls us more than kids cutting

But McGuire was quick to note
