The Gamecocks, again capitaliz ing on Walsh's outside sharpshoot. ing, went out in front 4-0 with 14:06 left in the first half. Norm Sloan's forces continued their stall tactics, challenging the sophomore-studded Gamecocks with, a maneuver that had not been tried , by any other opponent this season.: Rather than rattling USC the' stall provided McGuire's Iron Five with a much-needed rest, and they stayed in their usual zone defense for five minutes before coming out in a man-to-man to force State's hand.
