In the pre-season pickings, Vir
ginia was given the nod to finish
fifth in the conference, one notch
above Carolina, the reason being
the all-important addition of bench
strength to the Virginia team.
1966-67 starters Chip Case and
Buddy Reams sat out most of last
season due to injuries. Both re
turn to the Cavalier line-up this
year, but now Case is out again.

Virginia was impressive in its
opening game against Richmond,
running the score up to 113-92, the
highest output ever by a Cavalier
team. But 44 seconds into last Sat
urday's game with George Wash

and high scorer left the line-up
again for at least a month due to
a pulled leg muscle.
With him temporarily left the
Cavalier's hopes for an improve

maturing quickly, will face the ex
