Wins, 13-6
The USC rugby team travels to
Raleigh Sunday to take on one of
he most powerful teams in the
,onference in the N. C. State Wolf
)ack.
The Carolina rugby squad de
eated Clemson 13-6 Sunday for
ts second victory of the young
;eason.
Sandy Frazier paced the team
vith two tries (touchdowns) and
;everal fine runs.
Clemson scored first but missed
he point after to take an early
1-0 lead.
Carolina bounced back for two
juick scores by Bob Tomasulla and
1azier. John Greenway kicked the
xtra point on Frazier's try to give
carolina an 8-3 lead.
Frazier scored again after an
ither Tiger score, and Greenway
nade good on another extra point
:o give the Gamecocks their 13-6
score.
If anyone is interested in join-i
ng the team, practice is held every
rues(day and Thursday on the in

sational come-from-behind victory
against UNC.
This week it is Butch Reeves,
who has also been named defensive
ACC back of the week.
Reeves received these honors due
to his fine showing against
Georgia.
In that game, Reeves intercepted
two passes, both of which led to
scores in Carolina's near-upset of
the Bulldogs.
In addition, Coach Paul Dietzel
has named R e e v e s along with
Benny Galloway to captain the
Gamecocks in tomorrow's game
against N. C. State.
Reeves, a 5-11, 182-pound senior
from Americus, Ga., also blocked
a punt against Georgia.
That is an accomplishment in
itself as the Bulldogs have one of
the best k i c k i n g games in the
country.
A special committee of the ACC
Sports Writers Association picked
Reeves for defensive back honors
and the South Carolina Associa.
tion of Sportswriters named him
South Carolina collegiate player of
the week.
Reeves is the brother of Dan
Reeves of the Dallas Cowboys, who
has recently been injured and lost
to that NFL club for the year.
Reeves has played every position
on the Gamecock secondary at one
time or another and has also seen
duty on the offensive squad as a
siplit-end and as a halfback.
Reeves is one of the married
members of the Gamecock squad.
He is majoring in marketing.
