Unique Process
It's a new year, but we're having the .same old
elections.
We are again following USC's somewhat unique
election process which calls for everything from mis
printed ballots to delayed elections.
Not everything is "old hat," of course. This year's
innovation was designed and implemented by the Student
Senate. They have yet to establish a district for the
Roost. The residents will not be able to elect a senator
or vote for homecoming queen unless they are assigned
a district.
The Senate will meet this afternoon to create a
district for the Roost, but the confusion of finding
candidates on the day before the election is not con
ducive to a complete, meaningful election.
The elections committee has worked very hard and
its first major effort was to produce a ballot which
omitted the names of several candidates. This incom
plete list was the one given to The Gamecock for pub
lication.
The failure to create the new district and the printing
of the incorrect ballot have resulted in the delay of the
election.
Elections at Carolina are always very interesting,
not so much for the results as the excitement and
Adventure of seeing just when they will occur and the
various problems they will have to overcome. It makes
for a great show. but is it any good at getting anyone
elected ?

quite a number of USC fans leave
