The halftime deficit was only seven points, which didn't seem insurmountable at the time, but Gymnastics Team Begins Practice Practice began last week for the University women's gymnas tics team. Although the schedule is not yet definite, the team plans to give several demonstrations as well as compete against teams from other colleges. Events in w h i c h Carolina women will participate are floor exercise, balance beam, unevens, parallel bars, horse and tumbling. No one really gave up all hope, but many were about to resign themselves to a defeat which probably would have led to a dis astrous season. The tough teams were yet to be faced. On the first play of the fourth quarter, Suggs found Fred Zeigler open in the end zone with an 18-yard scoring pass. UNC seemed to collapse while Carolina's football team finally exploded. The Heels fumbled the kickoff and Warren Muir ex ploded into the end zone a few plays later to cut the deficit again. The Tar Heels had lost their poise and the Carolina defense held tightly and within minutes the Gamecocks were again head ing toward the UNC goal. Passes to Doug Hamrick and Rudy Hol loman set up Muir's second score.
