A master chef with 30 years of
experience has taken over prepara
tion of luncheon and dinner menus
at the "Top of Carolina," USC's
revolving restaurant perched atop
Capstone House.

the restaurant. All freshmen, their
families and guests are invited to
enjoy the atmosphere of Carolina's
own (lining facility.
SPECIALTY OFFERED
Added to the dinner menu this
year is a Capstone Specialty of
the House - Lobster Diabli - and
also an insert with three addition
al entrees.
Top of Carolina serves a daily
luncheon from 12 until 3 p.m. and
the dinner meal from 5 until 9
p.m. Sunday's specialty includes a
12 noon-3 p.m. buffet. No dinner
hour is set up for Sundays.
According to a spokesman for
the restaurant, University students
have filled vacancies in the restau
rant (luring the summer but now
are unable to coordinate schedules
with restaurant hours. He added
that waitresses are needed to com
plete the staff. University students
are welcome to apply for these
positions.
LOSS EXPECTED
Director Driscoll's comment on
the question of the restaurant's
possible financial loss (luring its
first year was "There is a very
good possibility of such a loss."
Driscoll explained that the restau
rant has not begun to approach
its "break even" point and added
that it was never expected to with
in its first year of operation.
Students
Needed
For MEF
MEF wants help.
The Metropolitan Ed ucea ti on
Foundlation (MEF), founded last
spring by USC students, is con
ducting a tutoring program this
fall in several socio-economically
dleprivedl Columbia neighborhoods.
One hundred and fifty students
from the University and other area
institutions of secondary and high
er edlucation are needed for the
program. Each student will spend
one hour tutoring and a total of
an hour in traveling to and from
the tutoring site.
Bob Alexander, MEF president,
asked that students interested in
participating select one afternoon
a week that they can always tutor
on. Those interested can call the
Wesley Foundation, 252-8262.
About 60 students have been re
cruited.

p.m. in Russell House. A two-hour
dinner break will be at 6 p.*n with
discussions continuing until 9:30.
A general meeting at 9:30 p.m.
will conclude the conference.
Livingston said a proposal will
be discussed during the conference
for a series of smaller-scale meet
ings to be h e I d throughout the
year. Closer spacing of smaller
meetings could preserve much of
the interest in more relevant cam-!
pus leadership, he stated.

Speakers
An organizational meeting of the
USC chapter of Young Americans
for Freedom will be held Thursday.
YAF Chairman Donald Senese
said the Southern Regional YAF
Conference will be held at USC in
March.
YAF speakers for the semester
include a colonel from Fort Jack
son lecturing on a soldier's view
of Vietnam and an authority on
the Czechoslovakian crisis. T h e
chapter also will participate in
a national YAF project, "Victory
in Vietnam," an attempt to get
political control taken off the army
so the war in Vietnam can be con
cluded.
Vice-chairman of YAF is Mel
vin Hanks. Officers of Carolina's
YAF are also the state officers,
and Melvin Hanks is editor of the
state YAF newsletter.
This summer the local Y A F
polled South Carolina congressmen
to see how they stood on U. S.
t r a d e with Communist nations.
Most congressmen said they were
against such trade.
