After ]
After three weeks of spring prac
tice Carolina's '68 football team is
slowly taking shape.
During the first week, sessions
were divided into offensive and
defensive segments so the coaches
could view certain players at dif
ferent positions. Personnel w e r e
shifted to various positions. Now
the shuffling of p o s i t i o n s has
slowed and the team is slowly
coming into shape.
On defense the Gamecocks again
should be stingy. Lynn Hodge and
Dave Lucas have both shown very
well this spring at defensive end.

(240) and Rusty Ganas (235),
both untried sophomores, will fur
nish above-average size and quick
ness for ACC play.
Tim Rice will return to middle
guard, his position as a soph in '66.
At linebacker the Gamecocks will
have much more depth than in
1967. Speed and a nose for the ball
are the main requisites in backing
the line. "M u d c a t" Grant and
sophomores Ben Padgett and Al
Usher have the edge over other
candidates at the moment.
