Independent Party, said Tues day, "Segregation is the peaceful solution to the race problem; if it is not solved peacefully there is going to be a terrible race war or a great repatriation movement." Speaking at a luncheon at the Baptist Student Center, Bessinger objected to the recent Riot Com mission report by saying, "It is a laugh to blame the white people for burning Detroit." "'Te question of integration has never been put to a national refer endum," he continued, "and that should be seriously considered." Bessinger noted that he was the first speaker of his philosophy to talk at USC since the recent tur moil in Orangeburg. He said that he felt a majority of the students on campus agree with his philoso phy. "If they don't," he said, "we have gone far down the road toward world government. "If enough of the people in this country think their parents were wrong in the racial decisions, then this country is lost." Bessinger's Independent Party is backing the presidential campaign of George Wallace of Alabama. Bessinger's second choice is Gov. Ronald Reagan of California.
