Guys, (10 these excuses sound
familiar? If so, don't wait to be
told! These were just part of the
randlom sampling t a k e n by a
Gamecock survey staff last week.
The issue in question was
whether the girls on campus pre
ferred having no restrictions or if
they liked having a "safety valve"
excuse to shake a bad date. The
answers were unanimously in fa
vor of the unlimited hours.
When confronted with the
prospect of bowing out of an
evening without the advantage
of preset hours, the girls seemed

to have it worked out to a
science. As expected, the old
standbys of early classes, com
ing quizzes, etc., were high on
the list of excuses.
One of the best ways to avoid
this unpleasant situation was
brought to light by a freshman in
South Tower when she replied, "I
don't (late, I'm engaged!"
The men of USC were a bit
more emphatic about how to shake
an unwanted (late. They too were
almost unanimously in favor of
unrestrictedl hours. The sole dis
senter was Freshman Pete Uns
worth when he stated that he liked
the curfew because, as Pete put
it, he likes to "go to bed early."
Bob Esposito, Bill "Hoss"
Cartwright, Marshall Kalinski
and James Bedenbaugh were all
in favor of being blunt. The
group's answers ranged from
"throw her out" to "tell her
your mother worries."
D)ave Rubinowitz, a sophomore,
seemedl to think the questions
asked were much funnier than any
answer he could come up with.

more, reached back into his
memory to what he thought was
the best way. He turned to his
buddy and in a state of recol

time I threw up on that

In general, the situation can be
summed up in the aged wisdom
of Senior Bill Jones when he said,
"Everybody wants a girl with no
restrictions, but they'd rather have
one with no reservations."'
