Comm itte New Law A USC committee visited uni versities in North Carolina and Kentucky last week to study de signs of new law school buildings. The trip was preliminary to de velopment of initial plans for a new law huilding at USC to re place the present over-crowded facility. Director of Planning Thomas I. Faris, Prof. Robert W. Foster of the School of Law and Richard Wilkins of Gill and Wilkins of Florence, architects for the pro posed new structure, represented USC on the study tour. La.t year the South Carolina G,eneral Assemibly appropriated $35,000 for planning and develop ing a new law school, after learn ing that the school has an en ro llment double the size of its intended capacity. "It had to be the best thing they've had at thi% school,," was a typical reaction to the cent. r Student Union Vice President Elbie Conard reported approxi mately 1,21,0 attended the ball. Conard said that the success of the dance could partly be at tributed to the "big band" music. Members of the Glenn Millr Orchestra said USC had given them the biggest response they had received at any college. I ecoration was another success factor in the opinion of many. The Student Union spent $700 decorat - ing the National Guard Armory for the occasion.
