Squad Seeks
First Victory
Carolina's cross-country team
under Coach Weems Baskin and
his assistant Rob Brown, has par
ticipated in four meets and is stil
looking for its first victory.
The team is composed of tw<
distance runners (David Peddi<
and Al Simms) and several mid
cie distance runners.
4 "We are using these meets just
as a workout for the next trac<
season," Coach Baskin said.
"It breaks the monotony of
training every clay and gives the
runners some competition."
Over courses varying from 3.5
to 5.1 miles, the Gamecocks have
lost to North Carolina 22-41; Fur
man, 23-35; Duke, 19 44; and
Clemson, 24-35.
One of the highlights of th<
season has been the running of
Peddie, who has won three of
four meets, Brown said.
