Two University of South Caro
lina professors, C. McFerron Git
tinger and Guilbert R. Graham,
are a u t h o r s of a study titled
"South Carolina: Economic Impact.
of an Interstate Highway.'"
These are among the economic
changes measured in the profes
sors' study:
1. Land values adjacent to In
terstate 26 have more than
doubled in general, since its
construction.
2. Lexington and Richland coun
ties can draw workers from
greater distances b e e a u s e
commuting via I-26 is easier
and faster than by previous
routes.
3. Since the completion of I.26,'
it is much easier for farmers
to deliver their products to
city ma r k e ts such as the
Farmers Market in Columbia.

ton.
