Pinehurst
Is 'Hard
But Fair'
(Continued from Page 10)
"I have averaged playing at
Pinehurst at least five times a
year for the past five years. It is
a real good course; it is hard but
fair."
"Wake Forest will present our
t o u g h e s t competition, although
Jack Lewis will not be there,"
commented Danny Fulmer. "I
have been playing real good (lur
ing the past few weeks, and I'm
hoping I will he ready to go.
"The Pinehurst course is one of
the best I've ever played on. You
don't get many had breaks, but
you pay for the ones you lo get.
This is also the kind of course in
which you are rewarded for your
gooI shots."
"Although Wake Forest is the
favored team in the tournament,
I think we have a real good chance
if everyone comes through,'' said
Allen Powers. "The loss of I.ewis
will hurt Wake only if we get real
hot a1nd1 play real well.
"I have been playing about the
best golf of my life, and I have
played the I'inehurst course a good
many times in tournanents. Pine
hurst is one of the toughest in the
count ry. It is very long, and the
rough is real hard to get out of."
Powers also conmlente(l on the
paMt season a 111 the future of golf
at ('arolina.
"I am very happy about the I re
suilts of the past season. I think
we will have one of the best teams
in the country in the next few
yeal's."
